The Suicide Prevention Speakers Bureau is dedicated to reducing suicide in Lorain County. Ensuring that our citizens are aware of the Risks, Red flags and Resources related to suicide can save lives.  The Speakers Bureau offers trained presenters, some who have been touched very personally by suicide, to address groups of any size and with the level of detail and time that is appropriate for the group.  Because suicide impacts people of all ages, races and social/economic levels, this training may help participants recognize the signs and symptoms in those people with whom they work, play and live.

By the end of the training participants will know:
*Who is a greatest risk for suicide?
*What are the signs that would indicate someone is depressed and at risk for suicide? * What do I do if I recognize someone needs help?

We recognize that suicide can be a difficult topic to discuss but firmly believe that if we do not talk about it and if people do not learn about it, opportunities to save lives will be lost.  Please consider allowing a speaker from our bureau address your group.

If you are interested in scheduling a speaker or if you have questions, please do not hesitate to call: Kathleen Kern at Lorain County Board of Mental Health 440-787-2078.
